GREEN ELEPHANT Personalities
We have been running the Green Elephant Backpackers continuously since 1994! Naturally over this time, we have had many people work with us, have great fun and move on. Here are the permanent staff currently working at the Green Elephant: Vuyani, Pat ,Mavis N, Mavis M, Nomvuyo, Shingarai, Nyasha and Farai.Our latest manager to welcome is Marietjie and she has fitted in excellently. Maz and Solene are here for this summer and Tate is helping while studying in Cape Town for the year.

Vuyani Makabe is our manager, mountain man, Mzoli's expert and STAR of the show. 

Marietjie has recently joined us from an online travel agency and loves the contact with backpackers.

Pat Mbutuma has been our star since the beginning! Now her main focus is looking after her grandson Solomon, a little gem in his own right. The pool table income goes towards educating Solomon, so feel free to play some more in the interests of his learning.She is hoping her house will be built in Steenberg this year..Pat is here every Tuesday, Wednesday and  Thursday .

Mavis Njova has the warmest smile you can imagine! She has been here since 1998 and has five daughters. This year she is planning to insulate her house and add hot water inside.  Mavis is here from Monday to Friday.
 
Mavis Malone joined us in 2006 and has made her mark as the lady of the manor. She is in charge of the Wesley Street house and the communication between the managers and the cleaners.
Nomvuyo is our weekend and holiday cleaner! She is still finishing her schooling, but works at The Green Elephant to earn an income to study further. She also hosts guests at her shack in Langa for a night and tour around the township.

Shingarai and Nyasha are our night security guys -they will help you after hours.

Patrick is qualified tour guide and our airport shuttle man. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a fantastic tour with Thembile. If you need anything when you arrive, he is the man to ask If he is unavailable, he organises his drivers Ashraf  to collect you from the airport.

Robin is hardly here these days.  His future is in renewable energies and specifically solar water heaters. www.sunpower.co.za He is trying to allow more young people to take the reigns and entertain and promote Cape Town and South Africa. He is still the steering hand behind the scenes, trying new plans and in charge of travel planning.
